If you’re thinking about divorcing in NH, you likely are aware that divorce is typically a stressful ordeal. Making a divorce stress-free is not an easy task. Divorce is a difficult process and can often be one of the worst times in someone’s life. We’ve got some tips to help you cope with a stressful divorce and try to make it as stress-free as possible.

#1 Make me time

It’s easy to veg out on a couch and sink away time in a Netflix show binge or drink away your stresses with a bottle of Jack, but you should really be taking time to yourself that will actually de-stress during your stressful divorce. That means keeping up your fitness and self-improvement regiments, going out with friends and family, keeping your social life in tact, and finding opportunities that you can forget about your divorce without harming yourself is key. Read a good book, take a short vacation, jump in a hot tub, or getting a massage are all low-key ways you can de-stress during a divorce.

#2 Seek out therapy and a support system

People don’t often split up with their partners in a completely amicable way. Even then, an amicable divorce can be difficult as well. Lingering feelings, thoughts, and social media can help exacerbate feelings of helplessness and worthlessness surrounding your divorce. Seeking out a therapist to help you cope with the reasons that your marriage didn’t work can help. Additionally, support groups for those going through divorce or currently divorcing exist and can be beneficial — being around people in a similar situation can help you cope with the stresses of your divorce as they unfold.

#3 Eat healthy

Healthy foods

After a rough day, it’s easy to order pizza or grab fast food every night. You may not feel you have the energy to cook, but it’s important that you continue to eat healthy during a stressful time. If you’re not food prepping or cooking for yourself every night, at least ensure that you’re eating when you should and not skipping meals, and you’re making healthier choices (grilled over fried chicken, for example) when it comes to deciding on take-away meals.
